A spring wedding!

Scott's brother, Troy, was recently married to Sonja. The wedding was beautiful and Paige had the opportunity to be a flower girl. She told everyone she got to throw flowers on the ground. She was especially excited with the princess dress Sonja made. Scott and I were in charge of baking 125 potatoes for the potato bar. We developed a system of washing, stabbing, buttering, salt and peppering and wrapping. Thanks to our two ovens and our neighbors two ovens, we were able to cook them all. Here are a few pictures of the day.

The arrival of Spring brings on our yearly outing to animal days. This year the weather was beautiful. I probably enjoy it as much as the kids. Those little animals are adorable. It truly shows what a miracle it is to have babies no matter what the species. After spending the morning looking at these cute animals, we ventured to McD's for lunch. In the afternoon, we went to "How to train a Dragon" which was so cute but a little terrifying for Paige. And then we ended the day with some good looking sunburns. My red heads also had read faces, red arms, and red parts in their hair. You'd think I would learn to bring my sunscreen with red heads in the family. It was a great day spent in great company.

Easter

Easter this year was pretty low key. Poor Scott had to work the whole weekend and with Conference being that weekend, we just didn't do much. We started by dying Easter eggs earlier in the week so Scott could do it with us. Paige loved it. She had her own egg with her name on it that was dyed purple. As we were dying them, we wanted to have a little family home evening on the purpose of Easter. Scott told Paige the story of Christ's death and resurrection. Paige was enthralled. She kept asking for the Jesus story over and over. The next day I pulled out the picture book and showed her the cross and the nail prints in Jesus' hands and feet as well and the "cave" where they put his body. Since both of her grandpa's are dead, we've had lots of discussions about spirits and bodies and where they go after death (heaven and the grave). It was good to talk about the resurrection and that the spirit and the body can be one again. It was a good reminder for me about the meaning of Easter.




Scott is a pretty big believer on no gifts from the easter bunny for Easter because of the materialism imposed on a sacred holiday. (It is a personal choice for us and we don't think negatively for those of you who do!!) I do like how my sister-in-law's easter bunny gives church related gifts in the easter basket (this year were cute scriptue cases that looked like purses). With Paige still being young and Scott not there to enjoy it, we didn't even do an easter basket. Terrible parents we know but she didn't know any differently. Next year will be different. Easter day between conference sessions, we were invited out to my brother-in-laws for an easter egg hunt. Paige loved it and even Ashley got a little bit of the action. The funniest part was the ferosious ball of fur named fedex the shi tsu. He loved Paige but the feelings were not returned as she ran screaming away from him and still trying to hunt eggs. Silly girl. Thanks for a chance for Paige to have a little easter fun.

Brian Regan

Scott and I were able to enjoy a whole weekend with just the two of us. Megan and Trent were so great for taking the girls for two whole nights. We met them in Brigham City for dinner and transferred the girls into their care. We then headed to our monthly card games with some great friends. After staying up pretty late that night we were able to enjoy the peace and quiet of sleeping in. (Although we thought they had cried in the morning and Paige was in our room. Weird games your mind will play on you.) The rest of the weekend was spent working out, shopping in Park City, going to dinner at Red Robin with some good friends, and attending the comedian, Brian Regan, with the Jacksons. We always love the chance to get away with just the two of us. I honestly think it's good for our marraige!!

Just some fun random pictures of the girls. They are both getting so big and are so much fun. Ashley is just about to crawl. She loves the bathtub, fake coughing, laughing and eating fruit loops. Paige is amazing. She can recite the 1st article of faith out of nowhere. She loves her music which she can identify and sing anywhere and also likes books and coloring. She is getting use to primary and hopefully after a couple more times with one of us going with her, she'll do it herself. She is a great helper and always wants to wash the dishes or make dinner. She's a little on the contrary side but has so much spunk and humor. She makes us laugh and fascinates us with her mind all the time. We love our little girls and look forward to watching them grow.

The train show

Today, we headed on over to the Union Station to check out the train show. Some good friends of ours go every year and have recommended it to us. We were not let down. These people are serious about their model trains. They had built mini cities, huge train lines, and even mini trains to put on display. Paige reached over to touch the train and right as Scott was telling her we don't touch, the owner of the train set was panicking that she might actually touch his precious (and probably expensive) train. As we went from room to room and looked at all the displays, Paige started getting ansy. "Not this room again" with a smack to her forhead was stated a couple of times. When we finally made it up the stairs to the lego display, her attitude had changed. She was wide eyed at all the creations on display made from legos. She really liked a dragon that was positioned on a mountain. (That seems to be a new fascination with her thanks to Dragon Tales.) We took her outside for a mini train ride which she thoroughly enjoyed and kept smiling the whole ride. And then over to the real trains which she has wanted to see from the beginning. She and Scott loved climbing up them and going from train to train to see how amazing these giant machines were. It was a beautiful day and a fun outing that Paige really enjoyed.

Fiddler on the Roof

Fiddler on the Roof is one of my all time favorite plays. I was able to see it with my great friends from work. We stopped at Red Robin for a quick bite to eat where everyone was talking, laughing, and just having a great time. Then headed on over to the Hale Center Theatre to see an amazing production of my favorite play. Everyone did such a great job and I am always amazed at their ability to use the circular stage. What a fun night with lots of love and laughter. I thank my lucky stars every day to work with women like these.
