Ashley turns 2

We were slackers this year when it came to Ashley's 2nd birthday. We did the same thing when Paige turned 2 due to my dad's illness, my pregnancy and we were in the middle of a move at the time. We really only wanted to be fair to the two of them, right??
I did get her to the doctor by her birthday which is pretty impressive for me. Here are her current stats: she weighs in at a whopping 22lbs 7oz, and is 33 inches tall.
She is such a fun and clever little girl. She is excited about everything in life and has so much enthusiasm. Everything she sees is amazing and she'll yell them out when she sees them ie- bikes, our car, dad, Paige, the moon, a plane, and our neighbor's dog, Kona.
Her morning routine is pretty funny and she usually spends it by my side. When she wakes up, she wants to know where Paige and Dad are. Then she will snuggle with me briefly while watching a short cartoon. Next, she's ready to eat but she won't eat her cereal, she'll want "bites" of mine. Then it's tub time which she takes off running to and will look behind her occasionally to make sure I'm following. After the tub, she'll make me chase her around the house to get her diaper and clothes on. She just likes to be naked and then when she finally consents to getting dressed, she wants to put her own diaper and clothes on. So independent. Next is hair which is always a challenge with a moving 2 year old, but we make it work. When I get in the shower, Ashley is right there helping me. She knows the minute the water turns off and is right there handing me my towel. If she's a little late, and I grab the towel myself, she'll make me give it to her so she can hand it right back. From then on, she is by my side the rest of the morning. She knows how to put contacts in her eyes, apply deoderant, put on a bra and connect it in the back, she'll pick out my clothes and shoes and is truly involved and curious about everything that I do.
She is such a helper by helping me load the dishwasher, pulling me out of the couch and will get anything I need. She is so silly as the pictures will show you and constantly makes me laugh. She idolizes her big sister and copies her all the time but don't let that fool you. She also likes to fight with her too. She is an aggresive little thing and is the nursery bully with her pinching, pushing, biting and scratching. Scott and I are the constant victims with scratches on our necks and faces when she's throwing a temper tantrum. We're working on it but it can be a little embarrassing when we go to pick her up from the babysitter and she's had a few episodes in time out. We love our little Ashley with her affectionate smile and excitement with life.

The Treehouse Museum

Paige's preschool had a field trip to the Treehouse museum. Scott and I decided to tag team the girls so he followed Ashley around while I followed Paige around. I wonder what we'll do with three kids?? Here are some fun pics of their exciting and busy adventures.

The "tulip" festival

My cousin was recently baptised in Eagle Mountain and I was asked to give the Holy Ghost talk. We decided to make a day of it and visit Scott's sister, Ginger, at the same time. It happened to be the Tulip Festival that day and although there were very little in bloom due to the weather, the grounds and company were still beautiful.

Easter

Easter was full of events this year. To begin the "week" of events, we started with Troy and Sonja's (Scott's brother and sister in law) temple sealing followed by an early Easter dinner. While participating in dinner, they had thrown together a huge easter egg event for the kids. Paige and Ashley had tons of fun and really got into it, especially having fun with cousins.






Next on the list of events was the easter egg dyeing. Paige didn't quite understand the difference between dyeing and dying. We had a lot of fun picking colors for our eggs. Paige wrote our names down on different eggs and Ashley just wanted to drop the eggs in the glasses. After the egg dyeing, we had a family home evening on the true meaning of Easter. When we asked Paige what Easter was about, she answered with the usual bunny, candy etc. We then gave the lesson on the crucifixion and resurrection. Paige really soaked up true purpose and it was later instilled in her brain when she gave a short talk about it in primary. We are so proud of our Paige and her ability to understand the simplicities of the gospel.




Next came Easter morning. Can I just say that the easter bunny is still trying to get into the swing of things at our house and wasn't as prepared on the candy front or the hiding of the eggs until the last minute. It didn't matter, Paige and Ashley still had a great time finding the eggs and then they wanted to hide them all over again. They didn't hardly eat any of the candy and we ended up taking it to Scott's work anyways. Then we put on their beautiful Easter dresses and did up their hair with Paige actually letting me straighten hers. Pictures are always interesting because they never look at the camera at the same time! Next, off to church to celebrate the true meaning of Easter.


After church, we went up to Logan for a yummy meal where once again, the kids had another easter egg hunt. You can never have too many of those. How grateful I am for the sacrifice Jesus gave of when he died for me and the beautiful gift of the resurrection that alows each of us to return to live with him and our families again.
