Christmas time

Christmas time is here and we've been getting ready for the season. We've been outside to enjoy the snow, hung my mom's and our Christmas lights and attended Scott's work Physicians party. Here are some fun pictures showing the beginning of this season's fun.

Turkey Bowl

We had a great time at the Turkey Bowl. Paige, aka Cat, loved rolling the ball and she would take turns with Ashley who just wanted to follow the ball down the lane. Just like every year we've gone, Scott and I came in 2nd. We have never 1st so next year we have a secret strategy to win. You'll have to wait until next year to see what we mean!! Great time with great friends.

Paige's preschool program

Paige's preschool presented what they've been working on to us on Parent's Day. They started out by playing a game that showed how they knew their colors. She put the mouse in her favorite color house which was purple. Then they stood up and sang a toucan song with toucans on little sticks. It was so darling. then they had to draw an animal out of a can and match it to where the animal was from, either a barn or the jungle. Paige put the sheep?? in the barn. She is such a smarty! I'm so proud of my little Paigers. She comprehends and retains soooo much. She knows her letters and what sounds they make. She has such a desire to read and is pretty good at learning games on the computer. I love my Paigers and am so excited with her desire to learn!

Stinker's 18 months

Ashley has turned 18 months. I think that is a big milestone for Scott and I because it means NURSERY! I can't tell you how nice it is to be able to sit and listen to the lesson in church. Ashley is such a busy body and she loves being in nursery where she can wander and play to her hearts content. Let me give you some updates on our little one. She weighs 20 lbs and is 31.5 inches long. You probably noticed the title of the post. Her nickname is Stinker. She is into everything and is called that probably ten times a day. When I took her into the doctor, they asked how much TV she watched and I could honestly tell them not even 1 minute. She just goes. She loves to climb and jump off stuff (just like her daddy who broke his collarbone that way). She is such a helper. She will say the prayer (in her own language) and fold her arms the whole time. She has a nose wiping fetish and if we can't see or hear her, we know she's snuck into the bathroom and unrolled the whole roll of tissue or emptied all the wipes just to blow her nose. That has prompted us to close the bathroom door. She helps me go to the bathroom by giving me my toilet paper and trying to pull up my pants (a little too much info but true). She will bring me my shoes and anything else she thinks I need to get dressed. She loves kisses and is learning how to be soft when she touches you. She is still a big eater especially when 5 o'clock rolls around, but is starting to be a little bit more picky. She loves Paige and imitates everything she does. Paige still isn't receptive to that but we're working on it. She still isn't a big talker but she can say Jesus and a few other words when prompted. She knows where her nose, ears, eyes and hands are. She is starting to make more animal noises and loves seeing live animals like dogs and cats. She knows when she's in trouble and will run away really fast from us when we come after her. She makes us laugh (even when we shouldn't) all the time. She has an extremely radiant smile and we are so lucky to have this amazing girl in our family. Now to see how she'll do with a new addition!

Wolf Creek

We just spent a great weekend with good friends up at Wolf Creek. The first night was with the adults only. Thanks to my wonderful mother-in-law for watching the girls. We started the night with some Mexican food at a restaurant in Eden and then headed up to the condos to check-in. First thing on the agenda was the hot tub. There were quite a bit of people already there so we just crammed in with them. Then it was back to the room. We spent the rest of the night playing games and laughing our heads off. We finally fell into our beds at 2am. We felt like we were young again. The next morning was a scrumptious breakfast and then home to pick up the kiddos.
We all arived back at about 4pm and once again the first thing on the list was the hot tub. (The pool wasn't open due to weather) We made sure the kids weren't in for long periods of time but Paige still managed to turn bright red from the heat. She opted to get out early so I took her back and gave her a bath. The rest of the gang made there way back and then it was time for a yummy dinner of pizza. The adults were winding down so we set the kids up with a movie and popcorn in the bedroom while the adults vegged on the couch. That night, we felt our true age. We were not meant to stay up for all hours of the night!!! We all hit the sack and a couple hours later, we woke up to Ashley crying. Not usual for her so I ran to her bed and just as I picked her up, she puked all over me. Poor thing had eaten way too much crap the night before. This went on a couple of more times within the hour and then she finally settled down and went to sleep. Thank goodness for daylight savings. The next morning brought on another yummy breakfast and then we all loaded up to head home. We had such a terrific time and are once again reminded how lucky we are to have such great friends. We missed you - Jen and Jill!!!

Happy Halloween!

Halloween was a little rough for our family this year. Both of the girls were sick. Paige had a cough and Ashley had an ear infection with a little croup thrown in. Needless to say, Scott and I stayed home from our adult party on Friday and watched a halloween show on tv with Paige. The next day we were all pretty lazy and got ready for trunk or treating right before it started. The girls looked so cute. Paige was really excited to wear a little makeup and she has the most beautiful long eyelashes that popped with mascara on them. We trunk or treated at the ward, running out of candy just as the rain storm hit. Then it was off to Grandma Roberts for a quick hi. Once again, we came home and watched a halloween show on TV with Paige. Then Scott and I watched our own TV show. Although we weren't able to get out and play with our friends and neighbors, we still had a fun Halloween. (The picture of Paige with the stickers all over her costume was from her Halloween party at preschool!)

Paige's 4th Birthday

For Paige's birthday, we met my sister and her family at the Chuck E Cheese in Layton. After splurging on pizza, wings and salad we divided up the tokens and sent all the girls on their way. Ashley loved the rides and Paige wanted to shoot everything. We had a great time with "cousins" and were glad they could join us.
The next day was not only Paige's birthday, but the primary program as well. My mom slept over so she could attend the program. Paige was a little bit of a stinker in church. She wanted to sit with us and not her class so I sat with her until the program started. Paige is a little fidgeter and snuggler and all she wanted to do was sit on my lap and play with my necklace. When it was time to go up to the stage, she was not happy because she didn't get to stand up to the microphone (she had to use the hand held one). She wouldn't stand up to sing and would only sit on the teacher's lap. Paige can be a handful and I was greatful that her teacher was so patient with her.
After a nap, she was much happier. All of Scott's family came over as well as my other sister and her family bringing her family from Logan. After presents, we had cake and ice cream. I hope she enjoyed her birthday and liked all of her presents including a new larger "princess" blanket.
Paige is such an amazing little girl. She had an incredible intelligence that blows us away. She is ready to read and knows her letters already. She'll follow her finger along with the words in any book we're reading. She's also picking up on games on the computer. She can move her finger around the pad so quick. I usually have to pull her off the computer. She's now in preschool and loves it. She'll share the letter she's learning and is so enthusiastic about it. She is still a snuggler and is so full of love. She wants to be held still but when we tell her she's too big, she proceeds to tell us that her legs are broken. She is so funny and has so much personality. She is pretty patient with Ashley. When Ashley will pull her hair or hit her, she doesn't retaliate. It impresses us so much that she'll restrain that anger and frustration that could quickly boil to the surface. She is still a contrary little thing with a little defiance when we ask her to do anything but her boistrousness and love for life overshadow that. We love our fun and sweet little Paige and are glad to have her as ours!!
